Vegas Bound!

June 27, 2018

I'm counting down the days until I board a flight in Connecticut for Las Vegas where I'll be attending the Golden Crown Literary Society Conference and Awards to be held at Bally's Hotel.

The Golden Crown Literary Society’s annual conference is the premier lesbian literary event for both authors and readers. In a different city each year, the event brings together readers, fans, writers, editors, and publishers to celebrate the best in lesbian literature.

I'm sure the fireworks outside, and inside the event, will be spectacular.

I don't attend many conferences, but one of the main reasons why I love GCLS so much is because it's a great mix of readers and writers. I can't wait to meet fellow lesbian literature lovers, and connect with some of my favorite writers, too.

At the Conference, you can catch me at the following readings and presentations:

Author Spotlight Reading moderated by Elaine Mulligan-Lynch: Thursday, July 5 from 9 a.m. - 9:50 a.m. in Bronze 4 - Lucy will read from her new book in progress, A Recipe for Love.

Author Spotlight Reading moderated by Lucy J. Madison: Friday, July 6 from 9 a.m. - 9:50 a.m. in Bronze 4. Lucy will moderate a reading and Q/A by 6 fabulous authors.

Presentation From Novel to Screenplay: Adapting Your Novel for the Screen: Friday, July 6 from 3:40-4:30 p.m. in Bronze 1 Have you ever thought your novel would make a great movie? Or have you ever looked at the paltry number of lesbian films on Netflix and thought your lesbian story should be there? In this presentation, you’ll learn the key differences between a novel and a feature film script. You’ll be guided through the process of developing your novel or story idea into a professional screenplay. You’ll learn the basics of form, style, length, character, and description and also gain an understanding of the submission process, challenges, and potential pitfalls of the process.

Presentation Brand You: Building Your Brand for Bigger Bucks with Sallyanne Monti: Saturday, July 7 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in Bronze 1. We get it. You’re an author and all you really want to do is write. Writing your bodies of work is a noble pursuit. Marketing your books may not come naturally. If you identify as a writer, odds are you want to be doing it full-time. And if you want to write full-time, it has to pay the bills. Understanding branding and promotion can lead to bigger bucks.

Make sure to follow me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram @lucyjmadison. I'll be posting photos and fun from Vegas!

I've recently joined the GCLS as their volunteer media relations specialist. I look forward to building up press contacts and visibility for the organization moving forward.

Happy Fourth of July. Even during these challenging times, take pride in America.
